Kitchen Renovations
Before: Identify the frustrations in your current space.
After: Create a home that feels effortless to live in, with every detail designed to support the way you move, gather, and connect.
BEFORE.... A dated kitchen that required a considered redesign and functional update.
After: Without removing any structural walls, the kitchen was refined through authentic materiality and highly functional joinery, ensuring every drawer and storage space is fully utilised.
Before: A cramped, closed-in G-shaped kitchen with limited flow and functionality.
After: Responding to the brief of “plain, simple and beautiful,” the design prioritised open space and introduced a concealed working scullery integrated seamlessly within the layout.

Before: A closed-in G-shaped layout that restricted movement and interrupted natural flow through the space.
After: Reconfigured into an open island layout with functional seating, and a well-planned scullery positioned at the rear for improved workflow and storage
Before: An older kitchen with inefficient layout and excessive walking distances between key zones.
After: After: A well-planned layout with defined cooking and preparation zones, anchored by a central island to improve flow and functionality. (More images on our Gallery Page)
Meet Aimee
Kia ora, I’m Aimee Materoa, a kitchen designer based in Aotearoa New Zealand, and I believe the best spaces come from truly understanding how people live.
Every kitchen and image in my ebook and on my website comes from my own design work and real projects. But what gives them meaning is where they start — my clients. Their vision, their style, their routines, and the way they want to live in their space.
Their ideas shape everything I design, turning scattered inspiration into something clear, considered, and buildable. My role is to guide people through what can often feel like an overwhelming process, and help bring their ideas to life with clarity and direction.
As a designer, I focus on simplifying the process, creating clarity, and translating real life into functional, beautiful spaces.
Real kitchens, real people, and plenty of aroha.
